Coy Ford Simmons was born on October 3, 1894 in North Carolina and died May 4, 1974 in Maryland. Coy married Lillie Essie Holcomb. Lillie was born on September 24, 1900 in North Carolina, and died on October 26, 1982 in Maryland.

According to Coy's World War I Draft Registration, dated June 5, 1917, he was living in Riceville, Iowa, and was a 22 yeawr-old farmer, born October 3, 1894 in Benham, Wilkes Co., North Carolina.

In 1920 Coy and Lillie were living in Wayne, Mitchell, County, Iowa. Coy F. Simmons, 26, born North Carolina. Lillie E., 19, born North Carolina (married and no children listed)

In the 1925 Iowa Census; Oak Dale, Howard Co., Iowa -- Coy Simmons, 30, born North Carolina: parents Henry Simmons and Ellen Hanks. Lillie, 26, born North Carolina; parents Lewis Holcomb and Julia Lyon. Dewey, 4, born Iowa. Raymond, 1, born Iowa. Doris, 2, born Iowa. Julia Holcomb, mother-in-law, 64, widow, born Iowa.

By 1930 the family was in Harford Co., Maryland, and had another daughter. Coy F. Simmons, 35, born North Carolina. Lillie E. Simmons, 29, born North Carolina. Dewey C., 9; Doris M., 7; Raymond E., 5; Audrey M., 1 9/12 (she was born North Carolina)

The Wayne Township Cemetery in Mitchell county, Iowa, has a grave for "Infant Daughter Simmons -- Infant daughter of Coy and Lillie Simmons." Her name is unknown.
