Edwin Proctor – October 14, 1833 – September 15, 1906

Edwin Proctor was born in Massachusetts, on October 14, 1833, the son of Azariah Proctor and Lucy (Hodgman) Proctor.

He married Deborah Elwell in 1854 on her twentieth birthday at Lowell, Massachusetts, and two years later they came to Mitchell County, Iowa and took their homestead from the government, the same farm where they spent the rest of their lives. Edwin was a veteran of the Civil War.

Edwin died September 15, 1906 and was buried in the Wayne Cemetery, Mitchell Co., Iowa.

Surviving him, besides his wife, was their only child Elotia Evelyn, who was born May 19, 1856 in Mitchell County, Iowa. She married Martin H. Leddy, a local Mitchell boy on July 1, 1874.

Also surviving him was a granddaughter Mabel (Amos) Eastman and great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Alvin Eastman.
