Myron Royter “Mike” Leidell – 1929-2009

Myron Royter "Mike" Leidell of Ontario died peacefully Sunday, January 25th at Inland Valley Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was 79 years old.

After being told that he had an inoperable form of lung cancer, Mike courageously chose to live the remainder of his life with specialized comfort care offered by VNA & Hospice of Southern California

Mike was born November 19, 1929 in Lyle, Minnesota and attended Rose Creek High School. At 17 he joined the U.S. Army, and received a WWII Victory Medal. Mike married Donna Coulson in 1951.

They settled in Owatonna, Minnesota where he honed his skills at the printing press for the local paper. In 1953, Mike and Donna relocated to Pomona to start a family.

After several years as a typesetter for the Progress Bulletin, Mike started a laundry business and eventually began a commercial and residential carpet and drapery cleaning service which he operated for a time in Ontario, and later in San Jose, California.

Mike loved to Golf and was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Pomona. In his final days he wished to be remembered as a loving and helpful Christian who loved his family and treated people with kindness and respect. Mike gifted his remains to the UCLA Medical Center Donated Body Program. A memorial tree is being planted in his honor in the Northern California mountains.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents Clara Reuter Leidall and Clifford Leidall, and Step-mother Elizabeth Leidall.

He is survived by his two children; Vicki Leidall of Aptos California and Jeffrey Leidall of Greenbrae California; his former wife, Donna Authelet of Sun City West, Arizona; a sister and brother-in-law, Cleo and Harland Libersky of St. Ansgar, Iowa; a brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Melba Leidall of Osage, Iowa, and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, church family and friends.

The family is especially grateful to Don Moore for his friendship, advocacy and daily visits during the last several months of Mike's illness. Friends and family are encouraged to make contributions in Mike's memory to VNA

Myrons father, Clifford Raymond Leidall, was born in Mitchell Co., on February 8, 1898 to Knud and Clara (Reuter) Leidall. His mother Clara died September 9, 1952 and is buried in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Mona, Mitchell, Iowa.

After his mother died his father moved to California. Clifford remarried 1960 in California to Elizabeth .

Clifford died February 25, 1971 in Los Angeles Co., California.
