MRS. LANCASTER, GOLD STAR MOTHER,
IS DEAD IN OSAGE
RESIDENT SINCE 1891 IN
MITCHELL COUNTY;
EIGHT CHILDREN LEFT.Osage – Mrs. James W. Lancaster, 65, Gold Star mother who went to Europe in 1930, died Monday night. Funeral services have not been announced.
Mrs. Lancaster was born in Norway in 1871 and came to Estherville at the age of 8 with her parents. She moved to Osage shortly before her marriage in December, 1891.
Surviving are her husband** and eight children; Mrs. Casper Quam of Mankato; Mrs. Ed Dort of Osage; Mrs. Harry Miller of Osage; Lloyd and James at home; Walter of Harlingen, Texas; Mrs. Roy Virchow of Charles City; and Mrs. Joe Carl of Lyle, Minnesota.
One son, Harold, died during the World War.

** Her husband did NOT survive her as the obituary stated. James Lancaster was born 30 AUG 1865 and died 22 JUN 1928, and is buried at Osage Cemetery. (See Death Certificate on Ancestry.com. )

Osage – Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Champion Funeral Home in charge of the Rev. Stiles Lessly of the Osage Congregational Church for Mrs. James W. Lancaster, 65, Gold Star mother, who died at her home here Tuesday morning.

Note: if she was born September 15, 1871 and died February 9, 1937, she would have been 65 years, 4 months and 24 days old.
Note: The first obit says she died Monday night, the second part of the obit says she died Tuesday morning.
