Alonzo Hawkins – June 2, 1880 – September 13, 1937

Alonzo Hawkins was born in 1880 at David, Iowa, and passed away at his home in Riceville, Iowa, September 13, 1937.

In 1902 he was united in marriage to Anna Barenz who passed away in 1905 leaving one child, Irene.
Mr. Hawkins worked at various occupations till 1916, at which time the family moved to Outlook, Montana. They returned to Riceville in November, 1930, and he became manager of the Burke elevator.

He held this position until forced to resign on account of sickness, January 17, 1936. He rallied slightly from this sickness and was able to do light work for a short time but had not been able to do anything since February of this year.

He leaves to mourn his death, his wife and three children: Irene, Marie and Reva; five grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Fanny Thompson of Outlook, Montana, one aged aunt, Harriet Betts, and other relatives.

In early life Mr. Hawkins was baptized into the fellowship of the Baptist church. Funeral services were held in the Riceville Baptist Church and interment was made in the McIntire cemetery.

Alonzo Hawkins was born June 2, 1880 in Mitchell County, Iowa, the son of Ira Hawkins and Sarah (Betts) Hawkins.

He married Anna Kathryn Barenz, the daughter of George Peter Barenz and Anna Christine (Garrish) Barenz.

In 1907 he married Susan Electra Buttolph, the daughter of Elmer and Myrtle (Seaman) Buttolph.
