Rice - At her home in Douglas, Wyoming, November 19, 1886, Miss Cora M. Rice, daughter of Ammon and Amanda Rice.

Cora was born in Sioux City, Iowa, December 6, 1866. When she was about two and one-half years of age her parents moved to Osage, Mitchell County, Iowa where they have resided until the 8th of November last. When Cora was [only about 16] years of age she began to teach school, and taught three terms near Osage, being greatly beloved by her pupils. She made it a custom to read the Bible and repeat the Lord's prayer with her school every morning.

She was converted to God in a series of meetings conducted by Rev. V. A. Drake in the Free Methodist church during the spring of 1883, and united with the denomination shortly after. She continued her connection with that body until death severed all earthly ties and she joined the church on high. She was an earnest Christian, always seeking an oppurtunity to speak a word for her Saviour.

While in Osage she taught a class in the Sabbath school and was one of the most successful of teachers.

From the time of her conversion, through the rest of her short life, she did not waver at all in her endeavors to win the crown of life. Her ever holy life is worthy of the imitation of all her associates. Her sweet, cheerful spirit plainly bespoke a life of happiness in communion with her God.

As she was preparing to go from the home of her childhood she was not forgetful to gather a supply of Sunday school papers and cards for distribution among the children on the train.

After arriving at her new home in Douglas,she began teaching the Douglas school. The school building not having been finished, she taught in a tent for five weeks lacking one day.

She was taken with typhoid fever, which being quite mild in its form, ran its course and left her after two weeks quite prostrated. After the fever had passed pneumonia set in, which baffled the skill of the physicians.

On Friday morning, November, 19th, at 7 o'clock, her soul passed into the spirt world.

Her parents started from Douglas with her remains on Saturday morning, November 20th and reached Osage on the afternoon train Monday. On Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock, November 23rd, her remains were conveyed to the silent city of the dead.

The funeral services will be held in the Free Methodist church, Sunday morning, November 28th at 11 o'clock.
