DIED

Died in Osage, June 28, 1889, afer a long and painful sickness, Lorenzo D. Weed, aged fifty-six years. Mr. Weed was born in Melbourne, East Canada, in 1833. In 1869, in company with his wife and only surviving son, he emigrated to Iowa and settled in Lincoln township. Except one
year in Tennessee, they have since resided in Mitchell county for the last two years in Osage, a mile south of the city.

Whoever has known Mr. Weed, has known an honest, Christian man. He was peculiarly unselfish and upright in all his intercourse with the human family. Neighbors knew him but to love him.

Having a cheerful spirit and a hospitable home, he made many warm friends. His example and influence were always on the right side of every moral question, and he kept the golden rule as faithfully as mortal well could.

His funeral was largely attended on Sunday morning June 30, at the Universalist church of which he was a member. The pastor, Rev. A. A. Thayer officiating. He leaves a widow and one son to mourn his loss.
