VOIGHT

Lydia Theresa Voight was born in Rock Creek, Mitchell Co., Iowa, November 1, 1881, and died in Mitchell, February 19, 1901, aged 19 years, 3 months and 18 days. She, with her parents moved to West Mitchell, in the year 1887, and in 1899 moved to the home where she died. Miss Voight grew from childhood to youth in Mitchell, and her sudden departure in youth has brought sorrow to the hearts of kindred and many friends. She will be missed from the home life, from the social life of the young people and in the work of the Christian Endeavor society.

Miss Voight had been teaching in the Geassell school district during the week, and was apparently well on Friday evening, February 8, when she was suddenly taken sick. Medical skill and the constant care of parents and friends failed to arrest the progress of the fatal disease. A change for the worse took place on Monday evening. She was consious that she could not recover. All fear of death was absent. The prayers of childhood and the songs about Christ filled her soul. When too weak to talk, her face showed her pleasure in the prayers of her Sabbath school teacher and father. She died trusting in Christ, Tuesday morning at four o'clock.

Funeral services were held in the Congregational church at Mitchell, Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Henry Wilson.
