John Goplerud died at his late home in Santa Monica, California at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon, only nine days after the death of his elder brother, Chris at Otranto.

Mr. Goplerud had been in poor health for a long time, but was thought to be gaining nicely. In fact, the Press-News has a letter from Fred Fisk, also of Santa Monica, written August 6 in which he reported seeing Mr. Goplerud and finding him improving.

The day following the funeral of his brother, Chris, however, John took a turn for the worse and failed steadily to the end. He had been badly crippled with arthritis.

Long Time Osage Resident

Mr. Goplerud was for many years a prominent figure in Osage business affairs. He was associated with his brother, Harry, in the Goplerud Department Store for more than a quarter of a century, and had extensive land holdings in North Dakota and Montana.

When Goplerud Brothers disposed of their store in 1924, Mr. Goplerud devoted his time to his property interests, soon moving to California. He spent much of his time here and in North Dakota, however, until the past few years.

He is survived by his widow, the former Pearl Bartell, Osage, and one son, Robert; also the following brother and sisters: Harry Goplerud, Osage; Mrs. Guri Fjelde, Parkland, Washington; Mrs. E. Z. Larson, St. Paul; Mrs. Ingebork Fjeld, Montpelier, North Dakota.

Osage Man's Brother
Dies in California

OSAGE, IOWA — H. G. Goplerud received word of the death of his brother, John, in Santa Monica, California Monday. Mr. Goplerud suffered a nervous breakdown more than a year ago and never recovered.

Mr. Goplerud was in the dry goods business with hia brother, H. G. Goplerud, here 35 years. For the past IS years he has been living in California, only returning here to look after business interests.

Two weeks ago Sunday his brother, Chris, died at the home of his son, near Otranto.

Mrs. Goplerud and a son, Jean, survive.

Funeral services were in Santa Monica.
