Funeral services for Leonard Anderson, 87, a retired Carpenter area farmer, were held on Friday, February 14, 1986 at Deer Creek Lutheran Church, rural Carpenter, Iowa. Rev. E. Franke officiated and burial was in the Deer Creek cemetery, rural Carpenter. Mr. Anderson died on Tuesday, February 11, 1986 at a Mason City, Iowa, hospital.
Mr. Anderson was born on September 16, 1898 in Worth County, Iowa, to Ole L. and Mary (Knudson) Anderson. He was educated in rural Worth County schools. On June 22, 1921, he and Ina Gordon of Rose Creek, Minnesota, were married in Austin, Minnesota. He had farmed on the same farm for 60 years.
The Andersons celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on June 22, 1971. They were custodians of Deer Creek Lutheran Church and were caretakers of the church cemetery for several years. After his wife's death in 1979, Mr. Anderson moved to Northwood.
Survivors include two sisters, Selma Beyer of Mason City and Olga Olson of Northwood; two brothers, Melvin of Carpenter and Gilbert of Northwood.
