ELLEN (HOUGH) BARRETT -- SEPTEMBER 4, 1860 —JANUARY 19, 1930

OSAGE PIONEER WOMAN IS BURIED AFTER LONG ILLNESS FROM CANCER

Osage, Jan 21. – Mrs. Ellen Hough Barrett, widow of the late J. M. Barrett, died Sunday morning at 3 o’clock from the effects of cancer.

She was born September 4, 1860, in the little town of Watertown, Floyd County. Her husband died several years ago.

Surviving are three children; Orval and Ethel Barrett of Osage; and Clarence Barrett of Devonia.

The funeral was conducted by the Rev. E. B. Frye of the Methodist Church, at the Shelledy Funeral Home, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock and burial was in the Osage Cemetery.

Ellen Hough was the daughter of William J. Hough and Diana (Markels) Hough. Her parents are buried in the Orchard Cemetery, Mitchell Co., Iowa. She married Jason Merrill Barrett.
