Funeral services for Miss Jennie C. Olsen, 94, who died Friday, May 19, 1967 at the Good Samaritan Center were held Monday, May 22 at the First Lutheran church. The Rev. Don Comnick, pastor, officiated.
Jennie C. Olsen, the daughter of John and Randi Olsen was born July 23, 1872 in Janesville, Wis. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith. As a child, she moved to St. Ansgar with her parents. She was confirmed in the First Lutheran church and took an active part in all church affairs until old age made it impossible to continue these activities.
Miss Olsen spent the most part of her life in St. Ansgar, except the years she was employed by Goplerud Brothers at Osage. When her mother died, she took care of the home with her father and her sister, Anna. Following the death of their father, the sisters resided together until Anna's death, after which Jennie lived alone for a number of years.
In 1954 her brother, Anton and his wife came to St. Ansgar and after the sudden death of Mrs. Olsen, she has lived with her brother in his home.
Jennie had the misfortune to fall in late November and suffered a broken wrist. She spent a month in the hospital, and the past five months at the Good Samaritan Center in St. Ansgar where she passed away May 19.
Surviving are two brothers, Theodore of Waterloo and Anton of St. Ansgar.
Burial was in the First Lutheran cemetery with Rev. Comnick in charge of the committal services.
