Gjertrude (Jane) Christiansdatter Bakke was born on February 2, 1792 at Aadalen, Buskerud, Norway to Christian Gulbrandsen Piltingsrud and Berit Olsdatter Lindelien.
She married Ole Haraldsen Uhlen 1834 at Aadalen, Buskerud, Norway. They had one daughter, Ingeborg Olsdatter Uhlen born March 15, 1836 at Uhla, Nedre Lindelien, Aadalen, Buskerud, Norway.
The family left to emigrate to America and can be found on the "Christiane" ship's list arriving at New York City from Drammen Norway on July 16, 1850. They traveled on to settle at Wisconsin.
In the spring of 1853, the family came to Cedar township, Mitchell County, Iowa with others and settled on Sections 1 and 12 of Cedar Township just north of Meroa (then called rural Osage). They were some of the earliest settlers in the area.
Found in the 1856, 1860, 1870, 1880 censuses at Cedar, Mitchell, IA. (1856 says Osage, Iowa):

1870: Levi Oleson 45, Isabel Oleson 36, Lewis Oleson 9, John Oleson 6, Oscar Oleson 4, Torena Oleson 1, Ole Hawlson 57, Jane Hawlson 77.
1880: Levi Olieson 55, Isabel Olieson 44, Lars Olieson 19, Johann Olieson 16, Oscar Olieson 14, Thorine Olieson 11, Peter Olieson 9, Isabel Olieson 4, Anna Olieson 2, Ole Harleson 67, Gertrude Harleson 88, Gabriel Frederickson 20, Hans Strange 20, Julia Johnson 18.

Gertrude died on February 18, 1885 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa. She was buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
