Funeral services for Viola Olson, 80, of St. Ansgar, who died Sunday, June 24, 1990 at the Good Samaritan Center, St. Ansgar, will be held this morning, Thursday, June 28 at 10:30 a.m. at First Lutheran Church here with the Rev. Robert Porisch officiating.
Viola Olson was born December 5, 1909, in McLeod, North Dakota, to Karl and Andrena Benson Berg. She married Palmer C. Olson July 6, 1930 in Walcott, North Dakota. They made their home in St. Ansgar where she was a member of First Lutheran Church and many church organizations.
Viola knew no strangers. If anyone was in need she was there with comfort food and support. Her boundless energy was devoted to friends, outdoor activities and crafts of all kinds. She could be seen walking in fair and foul weather, long before it was fashionable. Quilting, a favorite pastime, provided a perfect blend of her love of people and the arts.
Viola is survived by two daughters, Kathryn McHenry of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and Audrey Schulz of St. Ansgar; eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, six sisters, one great grandson and one great-granddaughter.
Burial will be in the St. Ansgar Cemetery.
