Lewis Kapka, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Kapka was born October 15, 1866, in Howard county, Iowa, and departed this life on the evening of July 13, 1932. He had not been in the best of health for some months, but it was a sudden heart attack that ended his earthly career at 66 years, 8 months, and 23 days.
In early infancy he was made a member of God's family through Holy Baptism. To the day of his death he was a faithful, loyal member of the Lutheran Church. Gladly do we pay him the highest tribute; a Christian gentleman has gone to his reward.
Howard County and Riceville have always been his home and this community has suffered a real loss in his departure.
He leaves to mourn him, his wife; three sisters, Mrs. H. Rieken, and Mrs. William Brockney of Riceville, and Miss Alma Kapka of Charles City; four brothers, Frank, Eric and Fred of Charles City and Edward of Garber, Oklahoma; his mother, Mrs. Kate Kapka of Charles City and a host of friends.
On July 16 his tired remains were bedded in God's acre of the Lutheran church near Riceville, his pastor Rev. Walter Leckband officiating.
