DILLY, Marie 1881-1938
Marie Helena Dilly, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Reckner, was born on September 3, 1881 in Afton Township, Howard County, Iowa. She was a lifelong resident of this community. Of a kind and sympathetic nature, she endeared herself to many hearts by her deeds of love and words of cheer.
She had been ailing for some months but had been confined to bed only a few weeks. A sudden heart attack ended her earthly career at 57 years, 1 month and 14 days, on Monday, October 17, 1938.
On October 19, 1938, she was carried to her last resting place in the cemetery of the Lutheran church, south of Riceville, in which she had been baptized and confirmed. Rev. Walter Leckband, her pastor, spoke words of comfort to her bereaved and her many friends in the home and the church. By the grace of God she remained loyal to her Savior and church and is now with Him in glory.
June 8, 1905 she became the bride of Albert J. Dilly. For many years they conducted a general merchandise store in Acme. Mr. Dilly was called home in 1930. Their union was blessed with one daughter, Mabel, now Mrs. Harry Ring.
Of near relatives there remain to mourn her passing; her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ring; three grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. W. A. Ripley of Lime Springs; seven brothers, Joe Frank, Arthur and Herman of Riceville and Ben, Charles and August of Charles City, Iowa.
