August 03, 1934 - November 14, 2010MIAMI, OKLAHOMA — Gilbert C. Bessman, 76, Diamond, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010, at Freeman West Hospital, following a short illness.
He was born Aug. 3, 1934, in Riceville, Iowa, to Otto and Grace (Naab) Bessman.
Mr. Bessman was a lifelong resident of the Granby and Diamond, Missouri area and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He worked for Rocketdyne, Vickers and Dyno, as a machinist, retiring from Dyno in 1999.
Gilbert and Carol (Fullerton) were married Oct. 31, 1955, in Miami, Okla. Carol survives.
Additional survivors include his children and their spouses, Candie and Wayne Reinhart, Coffeyville, Kansas, Lorie and Rob Dilworth, Carthage, Missouri, and Terry and Susan Bessman, Neosho, Missouri; six grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Powers Cemetery, northeast of Diamond, with David Cheek officiating.
Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, before the service.
