Clarissa Larsen, age 101, of Osage, died Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, September 23, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage with the Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Chicago, Illinois. Visitation is from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.

Clarissa was born May 27, 1910, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of Tuenis and Jennie (Feenstra) Oldenburger. After graduating from 8th grade, Clarissa worked at the Kroger Gray and Bakery Company in Chicago for 13 years. She later received her high school diploma through night classes. Clarissa graduated from nurse’s training and worked as a registered nurse. Clarissa married Rev. Harold Larsen at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Chicago on June 5, 1943. They lived in many different areas and started Calvary Lutheran Church in Chicago, Illinois, Calvary Lutheran Church in Tuscon, Arizona, Faith Lutheran Church in Rapid City, South Dakota, and Abiding Peace Lutheran Church in Kansas City, Missouri. They came to Osage in 1978, where Harold served as an associate pastor at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. He died May 4, 1984. Clarissa continued to live in Osage. Clarissa was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and is a past member of the church choir. She was also a member of the Alpha Writers.

Clarissa is survived by a daughter, Faith Sokoloski of Welcome, Minnesota; two grandsons, Shannon Sokoloski and his son Skyler Wayne Sokoloski of Farmington, Iowa, Byron Thomas Sokoloski of Welcome, Minnesota; a sister, Marguerite Cooke of North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rev. Harold Larsen in 1984; two sisters and seven brothers; Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home 641-732-3706
