MRS. JULIA KNOULTON
Born Oct. 25, 1825
Died February 12, 1912

Julia Lydia DuBoyce was born in the township of West Bolton, Brome county, Province of Quebec on the 4th day of October, 1825.

She was united in marriage to Goodloe Harper Knoulton on September 23, 1844. To then were born four children, one daughter and three sons. Two sons survive her death, L. W. Knoulton of Osage, Iowa, and M.H. Knoulton of Niagara Falls, N.Y.

Until November 1866 when she came to this city, she lived within ten miles of the place she was born.

Her husband preceded her to the higher life some 18 years ago, having passed away on October 7, 1894, since then she has made her home with her son, L.W. Knoulton and family.

She was the oldest of a family of eight children, the only one surviving being the youngest, Mr. R. P. Duboyce who lives within a stone's throw of the old homestead.

Mrs. Knoulton died on February 12, 19?? at about 2 o'clock, aged 86 years, 3 months, and 18** days.

Mrs. Knoulton has been a life long member of the Universalist church, being a charter member, her name occurring in the records made in 1878.

Mrs. Knoulton was devoted to her faith and her church. She was a regular attendant at all the services as long as her strength permitted and even in her extreme old age she managed to come about twice a year. She was present last September the 3rd, she was so appreciative, so kind her presence was a benediction.

Death came to her whose loss our hearts have been estimating these last few weeks, as rest to one who was only tired. She did not suffer even at the very last. Death's angel spoke and she is at rest.

Many years were her's and well did she prove them. An energetic woman. One who saw her duty and did it without hesitation, one who assumed responsibility without murmuring. . . .

The funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the home of her son, L. W. Knoulton, conducted by her pastor, Rev. J. Bartholomew -- In connection with the sermon, Mr. and Mrs. Berger sang two beautiful songs and as a personal tribute Miss Bartholomew read a poem entitled "The Good Grandmother."
