LENA PAGEL SERVICE SET FOR FRIDAY
Funeral services for Lena Pagel, 74, widow of William Pagel, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Mitchell, 3 miles east of Grafton. The services will be preceded by a family prayer service at the church.
The Rev. Marcus E. Reitz, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Ansgar Cemetery at St. Ansgar. Nephews will be pallbearers. Visitation has been set from Tuesday evening until 11 a.m. Friday at the Patterson-James Chapel.
Mrs. Pagel died Monday at a Mason City Hospital. She was born August 12, 1888 in Bath Township, near Mason City, daughter of Wier and Reina (Rosenthal) Weers. She lived in Bath Township until her marriage to William Pagel, November 10, 1920 in Mason City.
They farmed in Newberg Township in Mitchell County near St. Ansgar. In December of 1961 she came to Mason City to live with a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Broers, 1312 Delaware SE. She had been in failing health since that time and had been hospitalized at different times.
Mrs. Pagel was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. After her marriage she became a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church at Mitchell in the Rock Creek District.
Surviving are two brothers; Willie Weers, Morris, Minnesota; and Bardelt Weers, Mason City; a sister; Mrs. Elizabeth Broers, Mason City; a half-sister; Mrs. W. A. (Anna) Swift, Mason City; and a half-brother,; John Jansen, Mason City.
There are also a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William, August 7, 1958, and by two brothers and two sisters.Mason City Globe Gazette, Tuesday September 4, 1962
