ORCHARD MAN DIED ON TRAIN

John Eldridge, Postmaster of That Town, Passed Away on Way Home From Rochester

John Eldridge, one of the well known residents of the county, died Tuesday evening on the Great Western train between McIntire and David. Mr. Eldridge has been postmaster at Orchard for a number of years. Prior to moving to Orchard the family lived in this city, where he had been in the restaurant business and later proprietor of the Travelers Inn, then known as the Lawn Hotel, for some years.

Deceased had been in ill health for some time and last saturday, accompanied by his daughter, Mrs. Ed Kerlin of Mason City, went to Rochester to consult the Mayos. We understand they held out no hope for his recovery and he was on his way hhome when he passed away. he had been talking with friends on the train and shortly thereafter sat down in a seat and was found dead within a few minutes.

Funeral services will be held at the Orchard church Friday afternoon, in charge of the Odd Fellows, of which order he was an honored member, conducted by Rev. Artz of Charles City. Burial will be in the Orchard Cemetery.

An obituary will be printed next week.
