ELLIOTT, MCMINN, PELLEYMOUNTER

Funeral services were held on Saturday April 20 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage, for Max Elliott, 67, the retired owner and operator of Elliott's Standard service station in Osage. He died on Wednesday, April 17 at a Rochester, Minnesota, hospital. Burial was in the church cemetery with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post 278. Champion Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Elliott was born on August 7, 1917 at Fullerton, North Dakota, to Orin and Jesse McMinn Elliott. He attended Fullerton schools and graduated from high school there.

He and his family moved to Mitchell County in 1936 and he farmed with his brother. He then served in the U.S. Army during World War II with a tour in Germany. He lived in California for five years and married Kathryn Pelleymounter on November 27, 1941 in Pacific Beach, California.

In 1947 he returned to Osage where he was employed by Foth Plumbing and also worked for the Watkins Co. for a short time. Mr. Elliott then became co-owner of the West Standard Oil Co. and later, owner of the North Standard, with a total of 30 years with Standard Oil Co.

After his retirement from the service station in 1982, he worked for Don Morrison DX and drove truck.

Survivors include his wife, Kathryn; two daughters, Mrs. Steve (Mary Jo) Mehmen of Nashua and Mrs. Steve (Marsha) Eggars of Ankeny; one son, Kurt of Osage; six grandchildren; and two brothers, Marvin of Fullerton, North Dakota and Maurice of Postville.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
