FUNERAL SERVICE HELD FOR MRS. GRAY, OSAGE
RESIDENT MANY YEARSOsage, Aug. 15 – Mrs. Rebecca Gray, 81, who died at her home at 1122 State Street Sunday evening, was buried this afternoon. She had been in failing health the past few months.
Rebecca Susanna Sheffer was born December 15, 1851, at Williamsport, Indiana one of nine children. She was married at Neodesha, Kansas May 3, 1876, to Adam Gray, coming immediately to Osage which had been her home since.
Her husband died February 8, 1921. Two sisters survive, both of Colorado Springs; Mrs. Carrie Shobe and Mrs. Cotie Strong. A brother, Elmer, also of Colorado Springs died within the month. Her four daughters and a foster son, Jesse Hoag with his daughter, Roba Mae of Chaska, Minn., are all here for the funeral services.
The daughters are Miss Rena Gray, city librarian, Osage; Miss Sarah Gray, primary teacher in the schools of Holstein; Mrs. Clark Lewis of Osage; and Mrs. Ira W. Dahley of Fremont, Nebraska.
The service was held at the home with the Rev. S. E. Ellis of the Methodist Church officiating and burial at Osage.
