Rites here for Alvin Koch
Funeral services for a former area resident, Alvin Koch, 83, were held Tuesday afternoon at the Major Erickson Funeral Home in Mason City. Mr. Koch died April 21, 1980, at a hospital in Mason City. The Reverend Kenneth Hatland of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Mason City was in charge of the rites. Military services were conducted by the American Legion Memorial Squad of Post 278, and burial was in the Osage Cemetery.
Alvin G. Koch was born August 28, 1896, near Osage. He served with the United States Army in World War I.
Olava Lindley and Alvin Koch were married November 25, 1921. He was a driver for the Seaton Truck Lines for many years. In 1940 they moved to Mason City and he was a truck driver until his retirement in 1961.
Surviving are his wife, Olava of Mason City; one daughter, Mrs. Eddie Horstman (June) of Nora Springs; one son, Dean Koch of Mason City; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ted Frank (Minnie) of Osage and Mrs. Ambrose McDermott (Cora) of Waterloo.
Preceding him in death were his parents, one sister and three brothers.
