Jacob Winter
Funeral services for Jacob Winter, 92, of Osage, a native of Germany and retired Mitchell County farmer, were held on Friday, October 11, 1985 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage. Rev. J. Neshein and Rev. Dennis Hanson officiated and burial was in the Little Cedar Cemetery. Mr. Winter died on Tuesday, October 8, 1985 at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Winter was born on November 27, 1892 in Suderlugum, Germany, the son of Jacob and Anna (Jensen) Winter. He came to the United States in 1908 and lived in the Dundee, Illinois area where he worked as a farm hand.
He returned to Germany and married Botilla Matzen on June 4, 1922. The couple returned to the United States and farmed near Cedar Falls until 1933. They moved to the Little Cedar area and farmed until 1966 when they retired and moved to Osage.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Botilla, who died in February of 1985.
Survivors include one daughter, Caroline Winter of Osage; one son, the Rev. Ole Winter of Forest City; and four grandchildren.
