Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 6, 1985 at the Methodist Church in Riceville for Amy Mahaffey, 89, who died on Thursday, July 4, 1985 at a Charles City nursing home. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery in Riceville.

She was born on November 27, 1895 in Riceville, the daughter of Adelbert and Carrie Wilkes. She was married to Jesse Mahaffey on August 29, 1916. He preceded her in death in 1958.

She was a life long member of the Methodist Church and a 57-year member of Eastern Star.

She is survived by two sons, Dr. M. Russell of Jefferson, and Curtis W. of El Paso, Illinois; one sister, Mrs. R. B. (Caroline) Crain of Osage; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
