OSAGE, IOWA — Services for Dennis Gaarder, 33, who was found dead at his home in West Chicago, Illinois, of an apparent heart attack Thursday night, are planned for Monday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage. Burial will be in Osage Cemetery.

Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Gaarder of Osage; a brother, Barry of Marshalltown; his maternal grandfather, Theiman Motland of Osage.

He was an employee of Bell Telephone Laboratories in Naperville, Illinois, at the time of his death. Champion Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Denny passed away on November 12, 1981 at his home in the western suburbs of Chicago.

He was born on May 28, 1948 to Norman H. and Olive (Motland) Gaarder. He grew up at Osage, Iowa and later attended North Iowa Community College, studying drafting. In 1968 he was hired as a draftsman by Bell Telephone Laboratories at Naperville, Illinois.

Denny was buried in the Osage City Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Henry Norman Gaarder (1895-1970) and Cordelia Mary (Hansen) Gaarder (1896-1961).

Denny loved to play sports, like football, softball, volleyball, and golf;

In the summer of 1968, Dennis was still living in a house in Weston, Illinois. The entire town was condemned in order to make way for the Fermi Lab -- a nuclear accelerator laboratory.
