OSAGE SERVICES SET FOR E. W. APPLETON

Osage – Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Champion Funeral Home for Ernest W. Appleton, 91.

A former Osage resident, he died Sunday at a Waterloo nursing home. The Rev. John Woodin of the First Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Osage Cemetery.

The son of James B. and Louise Appleton, he was born in Chicago and was graduated from Osage High School in 1889.

His only survivors are nieces and nephews.

Ernest Walker Appleton was born December 1870 in Chicago, Illinois the son of James Burney Appleton and Louise (Walker) Appleton.

Note : in the 1900 US Census: Osage, Mitchell, Iowa
Ernest was living in the same household as his parents and just under him there’s a Hattie, listed as daughter-in-law of James and Louise; and their child Lula listed as granddaughter of James and Louise. His wife and child must have died before he did, or possibly another one of their sons wives.
