Funeral Held At Deer Creek Lutheran

Funeral services for William A. Anderson, 75, rural Northwood, who died October 3 at St. Mary's hospital, Rochester, Minn., were held October 6 at Deer Creek Lutheran church, Carpenter, with Rev. E.C. Franke officiating.

William Arthur Anderson was born July 5, 1906 on the home farm in Deer Creek township, Worth county, the son of John and Clara Anderson. Mr. Anderson lived in the same house all of his life.

He attended grade school in District 6 near his home, and was graduated from Carpenter high school. He was baptized at Deer Creek Lutheran church September 2, 1906 by the Rev. M. E. Waldeland, and was confirmed by him December 26, 1919. He was a lifelong member of the congregation, and served on the Church Council as a Trustee at the time the new church was built.

Mr. Anderson married Velda Dockum August 29, 1938 with the Rev. Olaf Langehough officiating. At the age of 16, Dennis Dedrick, a foster son, began to make his home with the Andersons, and it was his home for serveral [cq] years.

Mr. Anderson retired from farming in 1971. He was an agent for Farmers Mutual Insurance Company of Northwood from 1937 to 1981. He also served on the board of the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood when the home was organized.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mrs. John (Esther) Paulson.

He is survived by his wife, Velda of Northwood; a sister, Minnie Johnson of Northwood; his foster son, Dennis Dedrick of Georgetown, Kentucky; a nephew, Kenneth Johnson and his wife, Marge of Northwood; a nephew, Phillip Johnson and his wife, Carol of Mason City; other relatives and neighbors and friends.

Burial was in Woodbury Cemetery, Lyle, with Rev. Franke in charge of committal services.
