Sophie Jane (Hughes) Arsers 1870-1965

MRS SOPHIE ARSERS OF OSAGE DIES AT 95; INTERMENT AT L. SPGS.

Mrs. Sophie Arsers 95 of Osage passed away Saturday at the Mitchell County Hospital in Osage. Services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Champion Funeral Home in Osage, and the body was brought to Lime Springs for burial at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

She was born Sophie Jane Hughes, in Lime Springs July 22, 1870, the daughter of Owen J. and Bessie Hughes.

She was the widow of John M Arsers, who served as a bandmaster in Lime Springs and other north Iowa towns for 53 years.

She was married to John M. Arsers in 1891. He died in 1942.

Mrs. Arsers had resided during the major portion of her life in Osage and also resided in Lime Springs, St. Ansgar, Riceville; and Park Rapids and Ackley, Minn.

Surviving are two daughters; Mrs. Bess Hewitt of Osage; Mrs. Loren Graaff of Des Moines; three sons; Linton of Osage; Clarence of Washington, D. C.; and Earl of San Antonio, Texas; 19 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

For the past several years she had made her home with her daughter Mrs. Bess Hewitt, at Riceville and Osage. She had been in failing health and confined to her bed for some time.
