Funeral services for C. Edward Miller, 69, who died at his home in St. Ansgar Wednesday evening, August 1, were held Monday, August 6, at the First Lutheran church with the Rev. O. A. Langehough officiating.
C. Edward Miller was born in Waverly, Iowa, July 9, 1887, the second son of Mr. and Mrs. Urias Miller. He attended the public schools at Waverly and at the age of 18 took up the trade of barbering. Later he took up watchmaking and opened a jewelry and music store in St. Ansgar. He operated this business for five years.
On January 3, 1917, he was united in marriage to Sena A. Ellingson. Two sons were born to this union, Charles Edward, who died at birth, and Clair Edward, who resides at La Mesa, California. Mr. Miller had been a faithful member of the First Lutheran church for 40 years.
Since 1933 he had served as the very efficient postmaster in St. Ansgar, and had always taken an active part in civic affairs. He had served as local chairman of the annual Polio Fund and Salvation Army service fund drives here for many years.
Mr. Miller is survived by his wife and son, Clair Edward, two brothers and four grandchildren, and a host of friends.
Interment was in the First Lutheran cemetery with Rev. Langehough in charge of the committal services.
