OBITUARY-LANE

Ruby Ann, daughgter of Mr. and Mrs. George K. Stokes, was born near Mitchell, Iowa, Aug. 24, 1890. After leaving the old home farm,the family moved to Osage, Iowa, where they continued to reside until 1908. She removed with her family in October of that year to California and settled at Redlands. She was married to Sergeant Lewis Lane, of New Ramer, Colo., at Ocean Beach, Cal., Dec. 22, 1918. They went to New Ramer to live but recently moved to Pueblo, Colorado, where she died October 3, 1919.

She leaves her husband and two baby girls, her father and mother and sister, Gertrude, of Redlands, Cal. Three brothers, Warren and George, Jr., of Taft, Cal., and Clinton Stokes of Mitchell, Iowa.

Mrs. Lane was known here as a good girl and highly respected and beloved by all who knew her. In her early years she was a regular attendant at the Sabbath school in this church, where her parents and family were regular worshippers. She became a member of the Congregational church in Redlands, Cal. Naturally an ardent lover of music, she became a pianist and performer on other instruments, as well as singing in the chior of the churches she attended.

She was graduated from the city public schools of Redlands, Cal., and afterwards attended the College of Commerce, from which she was graduated with honors, becomig an expert stenographer. She was called to service in a law office in Redlands, where she served with great aceptability some three years. Also did bookeeping and other office work. As she grew to womanhood, she developed literary tastes and has left manuscripts of short stories and poems of rare merit. Her happy, care-free nature and disposition is no doubt, remembered by those of you who knew her, which was a characteristic retained by her throughout her life.

But she has gone. Her life's activities are ended. Her voice is stilled. In the activities of the better land, her voice mingles with the music of the choirs celestial about the throne on High. Life's chapter ended, the life eternal begun.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. van Swearingen,were held from the Congregational church Wednesday afternoon. A large number attended, thereby expressing their friendship and sympathy for the relatives of the deceased and for the bereaved young husband.
