Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the First Lutheran church for Charles Libersky, 16 year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Libersky, Otranto township, with the Rev. Olaf A. Langehough in charge. Interment was in the Norwegian cemetery.

Charles Libersky died in St. Mary's hospital, Rochester, Minn., Thursday night where he had been in an unconscious condition since the evening of Nov. 14, following a head on auto collision north of town that killed three instantly and seriously injured four others.

Charles Glenn Libersky was born December 7, 1922, on the Anton Libersky farm in Otranto township. He attended the Pleasant Prairie rural school and was graduated from the eighth grade there in the spring of 1936, and entered the St. Ansgar high school as a freshman the next fall. He was a good student and took an active interest in athletics. Despite his interest in school work he took a keen interest in things going on about home. He was a robust, sturdy, likeable boy and was a great help and pleasure to his parents. He had reached the point in his life when he was assuming a great deal of responsibility about the farm and was relieving his parents of many of the cares in the farm management.

Besides his parents he is survived by a brother, Robert, who was his constant companion and to whom Charles was a leader, his sister, Irma Jean, two grandmothers, a grandfather, a number of aunts, uncles and cousins and a host of childhood and school friends.

ST. ANSGAR, IOWA - One man and two high school students were dead Tuesday and four other persons nursed injuries following the terrific impact of a head-on collision on highway 218 a mile north of here late Monday.

The dead: Clarence P. Goldberg, 45, Robert Adams, 15; and Charles Rust, 15, all of St. Ansgar.

COMING FROM SCHOOL

Goldberg, a plumber, and his wife were returning to St. Ansgar in one car while the five high school students were returning to their farm homes after school, when the tragedy occurred.

A few minutes after the crash, Ed Schultz, St. Ansgar dairyman, found the two cars. He obtained aid and said it appeared that Adams was driving one car which belonged to his father.

The Adams and Rust boys took turns driving the five students to school in their father's cars, according to Supt. Irving Larson.

Adams was an ace halfback on the school's football team while the Libersky boys are reserves. Rust was a star basketball player.

RAN FOR SUPERVISOR

Goldberg was a former garage owner in St. Ansgar and a life-long resident here. He ran for county supervisor on the democratic ticket in recent elections.

Rust was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gilman Rust, Adams' parents were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Adams and the libersky boys were the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Libersky.

Charles Libersky was taken to a hospital in Austin, Minnesota Monday night, later being
moved to Rochester.

ST. ANSGAR, IOWA -- Three persons were killed and three others hurt seriously last night in a headon automobile collision a mile north of here.

The dead are Clarence P. Goldberg, 45; Charles Rust, 15, and Robert Adams, 16. Goldberg lived at St. Ansgar and the two youths lived on a farm near here.

Another youth, Charles Libersky, 15 was near death.

Goldberg's wife and Catherine Rust, 14, sister of Charles Rust, were reported in serious condition.

The Goldberg's were driving south toward town and the other four were travelling home from St. Ansgar, where all were high school students.

Coroner George Krepelka began an immediate investigation to determine the cause of the crash.

He said one of the cars apparently was travelling too near the center of the road and that it might have confused the other driver, causing him to lose control of his machine.
