Mildred Sylvia (nee Thompson) Hanson
1924-2007

Mildred S. Hanson, 83, of Hudson, Wisconsin, and formerly of Rockford, Illinois, died on Thursday December 6, 2007 at the Christian Community Home in Hudson, Wisconsin.

Mildred Sylvia Thompson was born on August 12, 1924 in Lyle, Minnesota, the daughter of Theodore and Alma (Ostenson) Thompson. Mildred was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Lyle, Minnesota.

She married Bernie M. Hanson on May 21, 1944 at her home in Lyle by the Rev. Olaf A. Langehough. Mildred was devoted to her family. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, camping, painting and gardening.

Mildred is survived by her husband, Bernie Hanson; by her three children: Roger Hanson (Janet Widder), Mary Pinkston, and Jerry Hanson; by grandchildren: Timothy Hanson (fiance Jodi Thraen), Wisconsin, Rebecca Hanson, Kirsten Lawson (Charlie), Thomas Hanson (Jessi); and by great-grandchildren Kayla and Jakob Hanson, Connor Hanson and Kaycie and Jeshua Lawson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Alma Thompson; by her brothers: Melvin, Edward, Dean and John; by two sisters, Alice and Marie; by four sisters-in-law: Alma (Melvin), Winny (Dean), Colleen (John), Ginny (Edward); by two brothers-in-law, Kurt Luethy (Alice), and Eric Erickson (Marie).

Funeral Services were held on December 11, 2007, at the O'Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson, Wis. Burial was in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Funeral arrangements were by the O'Connell Funeral Home in Hudson, Wisconsin. (www.oconnellfuneralhomes.com).

NOTES: She and her husband worked as custodians for the St. Ansgar schools. Bernie was a Scoutmaster for Troop 52 for a time.
