Charles “Charley” Cockrum 1891-1945

Osage – Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Champion Funeral Home for Charles Cockrum, 54, who died at his farm home in East Lincoln Township Monday after a long illness; burial in Osage Cemetery.
He was born at Warsaw, Mo. Mr. Cockrum came to Mitchell County at an early age and had resided here since.
He leaves a widow and several children; also a brother, David Cockrum of Riceville.

DIES AT FARM HOME
NEAR NEW HAVENCharlie Cockrum, 54, died at his home south of New Haven Saturday morning, May 5,at 11 o'clock, after an illness that extended over several months.
He was born January 14, 1891, near Warsaw, Missouri, and grew to manhood there. In 1920 he came to Mitchell County and settled five miles north of Osage. This County is been his home since.
Mr. Graham was married in 1910 to Della R. Miller and to them were born five children: Cpl. Delfred, who is in the armed forces and is now in the Philippines; Hersel, Nordicia and Lorence at home; and Dessa, who preceded her father in death October 19, 1923.
He also leaves five brothers to mourn his passing. They are Arthur, Lon V., Harry, and Leslie of Wenatchie, Washington, and David of Riceville.
A sister, Alice, preceded him in death.
Mr. Cockrum was a loyal father, a good neighbor, and was admired by all for his farming ability.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Champion Funeral Home in charge of the Rev. Wayne Christianson, pastor of the Baptist Church, and burial was made in the Osage Cemetery.
