MANS BODY FOUND IN DAMAGED HOMEOsage – The body of Nolan Pryor, 52, was found in his smoke-filled home here late Tuesday morning.
An unidentified visitor, attempting to enter the house, saw the smoke and notified the fire department.
Pryor was lying on the floor of the living room. It had not been determined how long he had been dead.
Assistant Fire Chief Ed Hartwig said an investigation is under way to determine if the fire was caused by a lighted cigarette or by the furnace; and also whether Nolan’s death was due to asphyxiation or a heart attack.
There was severe damage in the house form smoke and water.
Survivors are his wife, Willa, employed at Cherokee, a son, Roger, Rapid City, South Dakota, and three granddaughters. Pryor was the owner and operator of a drive-in at the east edge of Osage.

CONTINUE PROBE OF FIRE, DEATH AT OSAGE HOMEOsage – The District Fire Marshall, Reynold Hentges, Alta Vista, following investigation, reported the fire in the Nolan Pryor home here Tuesday was started by a cigarette.
An upholsted chair was smoldering in the living room, in which the pajama-clad body of Pryor was found on the floor. The fire had burned through a heavy carpet and into the floor. The cause of Pryor’s death was to be determined by an autopsy Wednesday. Officials said he had been dead some time before the alarm was turned by Loren Quarn, who saw smoke as he drove by the Pryor home late Tuesday morning.
Marshall Hentges was assisted in his investigation by Mitchel County Sheriff Mervel Angell.

NOLAN PRYOR RITES SATURDAY AT OSAGEOsage – Funeral rites for Nolan Pryor, 52, will be Saturday, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Osage. The Rev. John Woodin will officiate.
Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery.
Death occurred Tuesday during a fire at his home.
Pryor is survived by his wife, a son, Roger, Rapid City, S.D., and three grandchildren.Mason City Globe Gazette, Thursday March 8, 1962
