STACYVILLE, IOWA - Gilbert John Weber, 93, of Stacyville, died Thursday (April 11, 2002) at Stacyville Community Nursing Home.

His funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville, with the Rev. Joseph Schneider officiating. Burial will be in Visitation Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Visitation Catholic Church with a 7 p.m. scripture service.

Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home in St. Ansgar is in charge of arrangements, (641) 713-4920.

STACYVILLE - Gilbert John Weber, 93, died Thursday (April 11, 2002) at Stacyville Community Nursing Home.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Visitation Catholic Church, Stacyville, with the Rev. Joseph Schneider officiating. Burial will be in Visitation Cemetery, Stacyville. Visitation and scripture service were Friday, April 12, at Visitation Church.

Gilbert John Weber was born on July 24, 1908, to Joseph and Ann (Gilgenbach) Weber at Stacyville. He attended Visitation School. On Nov. 15, 1930, he was united in marriage to Martha Brumm at Rochester, Minn. He farmed his entire life in the Stacyville area. He retired from farming and moved to Stacyville in 1973. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. Gilbert had been a resident of the Stacyville Community Nursing Home since November 1996.

Gilbert is survived by two sons, Melvin Weber, Palmetto, Fla., and Leslie and his wife, Beverly, Stacyville; one daughter, Janet Mayer and her husband, Glen, Stacyville; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Theresa Blake, Stacyville; three brothers, Edmund Weber and his wife, Virginia, Stacyville, Sylvester Weber, Marshalltown, and Leo Weber and his wife, Marjorie, Charles City.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and brothers, Aloysius and Kenneth.

NOTE: The newspaper spelled the name Gilbenbach but it is believed that Gilgenbach is correct.
