OSAGE, IOWA – Funeral rites are to be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday for George Richsmann, 63, who died at his home Friday evening, having been in ill health the last month. He suffered a heart attack in December and other complications caused his death. Burial will be in Osage Cemetery.

He was born May 15, 1865, in Schleswig-Holstein and married Marie Pedersen in Denmark April 21, 1887. The couple lived there until 1894, when they came to America. Their three oldest children were born in Denmark. He came to St. Ansgar, later to near Osage and came to Osage to establish his home in 1904, where he followed his vocation of gardening.

He leaves his widow, six children; Mrs. Clara Mable; Mrs. Ed. Cordes; Robert and Roy, all of Osage; Mrs. Robert Greenlee, Shell Rock; Frederick, Minneapolis, Minn.; 29 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; an only brother Fred, Minneapolis.

Preceding him in death were a daughter, Karen Rosetta in Denmark; two sons, George and Victor, and a sister, Mrs. Molly Graffe.

LAST RITES FOR
GEORGE RICHMANN**
WERE HELD SUNDAY

Funeral services for George Richmann, 83, were held Sunday afternoon, January 16, 1949, at Champion Funeral Home with the Rev. H. F. Risse in charge. Burial was in the Osage cemetery. Mr. Richmann died at his home in northeast Osage Friday evening, January 14.

George Richmann was born on May 15, 1865, in Ballam Germany, and received his education there. He was united in marriage on April 21, 1886, to Else Marie Pedersen in Ulfborg, Denmark, and three children were born to them before they came to America in 1894: Carl, Christine, and Karen Rosetta, the latter dying in infancy. Eight children were born to the Richmanns after they came to America.

Mr. Richmann was a landscape architect and was employed by the Gardner nursery in Osage for many years, later entering his own business in this field. He lived in Osage for 54 years. He was brought up in the faith of the Lutheran church but transferred to the Congregational church after coming to America. He was also a member of the Woodmen Lodge.

Surviving are his wife; eight children: Carl and Frederick of Minneapolis, Mrs. Christine Nelson, Mrs. Clara Mabie, Mrs. Karen Cordes, Roy and Robert, all of Osage and Mrs. Gladys Greenlee of Shell Rock; 29 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Fred, of Minneapolis.

Je was preceded in death by three children, Karen Rosetta, George and Victor, and a sister, Mrs. Amelia Grapp.
