MAUMELLE, ARKANSAS - Melvin Dean Heaps, 66, of Maumelle, and formerly of St. Ansgar, Iowa, died Wednesday (Dec. 12, 200) at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday at the United Methodist Church in St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Jay Amundson officiating. Burial will be in Newburg Cemetery in Carpenter.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.

Melvin Heaps

Funeral services was held Monday, Dec. 17, 2001 at United Methodist Church, St. Ansgar, for Melvin D. Heaps, age 66, of South Bend, Indiana, formerly of St. Ansgar. Rev. Jay Amundson officiated. Burial was in the Newburg Cemetery, Carpenter. Mr. Heaps died Wednesday, December 12, 2001 at Baptist Hospital, Little Rock, Arkansas, after a brief illness.

Melvin Dean Heaps was born February 24, 1935 in Boone, Iowa and was a long time resident of the St. Ansgar area. He was a retired industrial engineer, a member of the Masonic Lodge, Austin Shrine, Minnesota Osman Temple and American Foundry Society.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Thomas and Rosia (Kelley) Heaps, a brother Ross and a sister Betty Deal.

Those that survive him include his son, Melvin Jr. and wife, Nicole of Maumelle, Arkansas; three daughters, Deanna Trytten and husband Randy of St. Ansgar, Donna Boerjan and husband Paul of St. Ansgar, Darla Theobald and husband Tom of North Mankato, Minnesota; twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two sisters, Agnes Conrad and Ruth Merrill both of Boone, Iowa.
