Obituary:

Cora Marie Roetman age 96 of Riceville, passed away at the Riceville Family Care & Therapy Center on Wednesday, April 27, 2011.

Cora was born on the family farm in rural Holmes, Iowa on September 7, 1914 to Jacob and Sadie (Peterson) Gord. She was baptized and confirmed in the Holmes Lutheran Church. She attended Goldfield schools and graduated from Goldfield High School in 1934. Cora was united in marriage on January 1, 1937 to Walter John Roetman at the Lutheran parsonage in Eagle Grove, Iowa.

Cora worked as a clerk at the Coast to Coast and Mason's Grocery for many years. She was an member of the Riceville Rest Home Auxiliary, site manager for Congregate Meals, and loved gardening.

Survivors include a son Wayne and his wife Sandy of Bethany, Missouri, a daughter Sandy Albertson and her husband Jerry of Ridgeway, Iowa and eight grandchildren: Tony Roetman (Shawn), Corinne Ashbeck (Tony), Christy Roetman, Keith Albertson, Peggy (Keith) Sersland, Connie Humpal (Paul Zander), Susan (Gary) Hovey, Dawn (Jeff) Horn., great grandchildren: Emily Roetman, Tyler Roetman, Aaron Roetman, Andrew Ashbeck, Jaedyn Ashbeck, Camden Ashbeck, Andrea (Andrew) Albers, Robin Sersland,

Shawn Sersland, Jessica (Tim) Hovey, Mitchel Donlon, Amber Hovey, Devin Albertson, River Horn, Cloey Horn and great-great-grandchildren: Ayden and Ella Albers, and Lily and Kaylee Hovey and "special" daughters: Sharon Eastman and Marquetta Souhrada.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Sadie Gord, step-mother, Mae Gord, husband, Walter, a daughter-in-law Catherine (Dale) Roetman, 2 great grandchildren Nicolle Albertson and Jay Sersland, one great-great grandchild, Rhett Hovey.

Friends may call on Sunday May 1 at the Lindstrom Funeral home in Riceville during the hours of 3 - 6 P.M. and one hour before services at the church.

Funeral services will be held at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Riceville, Iowa on Monday May 2, 2011 at 2 P.M. with the Rev. Michael Parris officiating.

Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Riceville, Iowa.
