Funeral services for William W. Lange were held at the Lange home at 1:45 and at the First Lutheran church at 2 o'clock on Tuesday afternoon, August 29, 1944. The services were in charge of the Rev. O.A. Langehough, with burial beside his wife at the First Lutheran cemetery.

William W. Lange, son of Frederick and Mary (Zilk) Lange, was born at Columbus, Wisconsin, November 29, 1863. In 1872 he came with his parents to Iowa, settling in Worth county. Here he attended the rural schools.

Following his school days he was employed for a time by George Lubiens, who had a hardware store in Carpenter.

About 1890 he came to St. Ansgar to work for Lewis Moe, a business relationship which continued for thirty years.

On Thanksgiving Day, November, 1903, he was married to Julia T. Moe. She preceded him in death on December 7th, 1941.

He was baptized in Wisconsin in 1863 and was confirmed and united with the First Lutheran church of St. Ansgar, November 10th, 1940. His church relationship was a source of comfort to him, particularly since the death of his wife. He was always found at the service if at all possible to be there.

On Ausgust 22nd he went with others to Mason City to spend the day. That afternoon, at the home of his sister, Mrs. Theisen, he suffered what was thought to be a light stroke. He was taken to the Mercy Hospital, where his condition grew worse and he passed away Saturday forenoon, August 26.

He leaves to mourn his loss, two sisters, Mrs. Matilda Theisen of Mason City, and Mrs. Tena Rennebohm of Deer Creek, Minnesota, a brother, George Lange of Mason City, and a number of nieces and nephews.
