HALVOR ANDERSON LYSAGER

#1:

DEATH OF A PIONEER

Halvor Anderson of Mona Suddenly
but Peacefully Answers the
Final Summons.

Another of the oldest inhabitants of this vicinity has passed away. Tuesday afternoon Mr. Halvor Anderson Lysager, one of the oldest residents of Mitchell County suddenly and unexpectedly passed away at his home in Otranto township. Mr. Anderson had done no active labor for the last seven years since his severe illness but with the exception of an attack of illness in 1892 had enjoyed fairly good health up to the day of his death.

Mr. Anderson begun his, in many ways, remarkable career in Norway in the year 1816. He came to America in 1853, lived at Muskego near Milwaukee one year moving the following year to Mitchell county, Iowa, where he has resided on the same farm ever since -- a period of 45 years. The subject of our sketch has been married twice and leaves a large family of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Besides a wife there remains of the family, six sons and eight daughters -- Mrs. Anna R. Lund, Glendale, California, the eldest, A.H. Anderson of this city, Henry Anderson, Los Angeles, Cal., Barnard Anderson of this place, Peter Anderson of Wahoo, Nebraska, Mrs. Mathilde Peterson of Council Bluffs, Mrs. Caroline Strom and Mrs. Hannah Franzen both of Wahoo, Oliver Anderson of Wahoo, Misses Julia and Mina Anderson and Mrs. J.H. Rockafellow all residing here, Miss Bergine Anderson and the youngest son Nels who live on the farm.

It is expected that most of the children, with the exception of the one living in California will attend their father's funeral next Monday.
