Services for I. H. Saline, 76, former city councilman who died Monday at his home of cancer, are pending at Champion Funeral Home.

Survived by his widow, June; a daughter, Mrs. Robert Mark of Osage; two brothers, Roy of Brockton, Massachusetts, and Harold of Charlotte, North Carolina; and a sister, Mrs. Signe Hill of Brockton.

Isadore Henry Saline was born on July 27, 1891 in Brockton, Massachusetts to Henry and Clara (Peterson) Saline. Known as Izzy, he attended the Brockton schools.

Izzy entered the U.S. Army on March 19, 1918 at Fort Slocum, New York. He served with the cavalry at Fort Ethan Allen, Vermont. Izzy entered officers training at Camp Grant, Illinois and was promoted to Sergeant RSO on July 1, 1918. He was discharged on November 27, 1918 as Sergeant, Co. 6 1st Candidate Battalion I Co. S.

June Mary Roose and L. H. Saline were united in marriage on June 5, 1920 at Sac City, Iowa. June was born October 11, 1895 in Sac City, Iowa to John and Augusta Johnson Roose.

Izzy and June farmed near Spencer, Iowa and June continued teaching. They returned to Sac City, Iowa in 1929. In April of 1937, the family moved to Osage, Iowa and Izzy purchased the Sani-Dairy. They operated the dairy until 1954.

Izzy served on the Osage City Council, the Mitchell County board of assessment and review, and the Mitchell County board for soldiers relief. In 1966, he was honored as a 50 year member of the Masonic Order and was past patron of the Order of the Eastern Star of Sac City Chapter No. 18. Izzy also gave free time and talent to singing at public and civic functions with a local quartet.

Izzy passed away on September 18, 1967 in Osage, Iowa. June passed away on December 23, 1975 in Osage, Iowa. They are buried at the Osage City Cemetery.

June and Izzy were the parents of two children, Marjorie and Allen.

Marjorie June is married to Robert D. Mark. They are the parents of four children: Mary Brelsford, William (Bill), John, and Ann Norby. Marge and Bob reside in Osage.

Walter Allen (Known as Allen) was born on July 31, 1922 at Spencer, Iowa. He graduated from the Osage High School in 1940. Allen worked in his father's dairy until he enlisted in the Army Air Corps in July, 1942. Allen was called to active duty on February 2, 1943 and took his cadet training at San Antonio, Texas. He was later stationed at Pine Bluff, Arkansas and Altus, Oklahome where he received his wings as a bomber pilot and was commissioned a second lieutenant on December 5, 1943.

In February, 1944, Allen went overseas as a B-24 bomber pilot. He was stationed in England and flew 35 missions, 25 of them at night. He piloted some secret night flights over France.

Allen died on February 17, 1948, and was buried in the Osage City Cemetery.
