OSAGE, IOWA - Glenn Henry Stangl, age 84, of Osage died Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 11, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage with Rev. John Moser officiating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery with military honors at the grave by Osage V.F.W. Post 7920. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with a rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a Scripture wake service at 7 p.m.

Glenn was born on January 16, 1927, in Mt. Carmel in Carroll County, the son of Frank and Julia (Bruning) Stangl. He was one of 12 children. Glenn attended Mt. Carmel School and graduated in 1944 from Carroll High School. He was drafted into the U.S. Army during World War II in May of 1945. He served in the 88th Division in Italy and was honorably discharged in February of 1947.

Glenn married Margaret Vogt on October 18, 1949. To this union, five children were born. Glenn, Margaret and family moved to Elma, in Howard County, in 1971 from Atlantic. Glenn retired in 1991 after 42 years of farming.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Stangl of Osage; five children: Judy Stangl of Springfield, Missouri, Randy (Janet) Stangl of Charles City, Jean (Darryl) Delfs of Council Bluffs, Janelle (Robert, Sr.) McDonough of Hermitage, Pennsylvania, Ron (Diane) Stangl of Charles City; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Eunice Reising of Breda, Cedella Danzer of Carroll, Marilyn (Dennis) Berg of Arcadia; and two brothers, Merle Stangl of Atlantic and Warren (Laura) Stangl of Claremont, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
