Funeral services for Oscar Elmer Witzel were held Wednesday, September 11, 1974 at 2 p.m. in the United Methodist Church with Reverend Richard Oehring officiating. He passed away September 8, 1974 at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital in Osage.

Oscar Witzel was born April 26, 1898 at Buffalo Center, Iowa, the son of Albert and Elizabeth Nicholson Witzel. He spent most of his childhood in Oklahoma.

On June 20, 1919, he was united in marriage to Ethel Slagle and they spent most of their married life in New Haven, Little Cedar and Riceville.

To this union three daughters were born: Mrs. Cleo Weber of Mason City; Mrs. John (Lola Mae) Church, Cresco and Mrs. Lillian Garden, Charles City.

He is survived by this three daughters, eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and two brothers.

Interment was in the Little Cedar Cemetery with the Champion Funeral Home of Osage in charge of arrangements.
