Mr. Kimball died at his home north of town May 17th, 1921, after a week of suffering from paralysis. All was done that loving hands could do, but God called him home. Though his death was expected hourly, it was a shock to the family. A loving father and husband was taken from us.
Mr. Sophmore E. Kimball was born October 2nd, 1855, at Catlin, Cheming county, New York. When a small child he moved from there to Painted Post, New York, where he lived until 1870, when he came west, landing at what was known as Schots Grove. Later, when the railroad went through, it became Sheffield, Iowa. March 17th, 1902, he was united in marriage to Miss Carrie Gibson, of Alexander, Iowa. To this union five children were born. The sorrowing wife, three sons and a daughter are left to mourn his death, one son, Avery, having preceded his father to the Great Beyond one year and four months ago.
The family have the sympathy of the entire community.
