CARR

Richard S. Carr who was brought here from the Minneapolis hospital about two months ago, died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Henry Green, last Thursday evening, July 20th, at the age of 66 years and 11 months.

Mr. Carr was born in Portland, Maine, and came to Osage nearly fifty years ago, and was a resident of this place several years. He then retired to the home of his childhood, and some years later came back to Iowa and resided eight years at Belle Plaine. During the last few year his home has been in Minneapolis.

Mr. Carr was twice married. His first wife was Hattie Thorne of Portland Maine, by whom he had four children, two of them now living in Seattle, Washington. In 1885 he was again married to Jennie Adams of Minneapolis, who survives him. There are three children by this union now living. He also leaves three sisters, Mrs. William Blowers of Waterloo, Mrs. Emeline Green of Osage, and Mrs. Mary Jane Day of Pleasanton, Kansas.

He was a member of the Baptist church, also a member of the order of Odd Fellows. He was a thoughtful husband and father and worked diligently to provide his family a home. He had long been a severe but patient sufferer from cancer of the stomach.

The funeral was attended Sunday afternoon, Rev. L. C. Clark officiating. On account of severe illness, Mrs. Carr was not able to come from Minneapolis before but was present at the funeral. Among other relatives from a distance were Mrs. William Blowers of Waterloo and Bert Blowers of Mitchell. Mr. and Mrs. Green extend thanks to the kind friends who assisted them in their time of trial.
