Lawrence Koball 1928-1948

St. Ansgar – Lawrence Koball, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Koball, died Monday at Cedar Valley Hospital in Charles City of influenza and complications.

The funeral was here Thursday.

MANY GATHER TO PAY RESPECTS
AT LAST RITES
FOR LAWRENCE KOBALL

Funeral services were conducted for Lawrence C. Koball at the home of his parents at 1:45 and at the First Lutheran Church at 2:30 o'clock last Thursday afternoon.

Lawrence Carl Koball, son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Koball, was born July 6, 1928 in St. Ansgar. He was baptized on August 2, 1928 and confirmed on April 18, 1943 in the First Lutheran church.

He attended the St. Ansgar public school until his senior year, and had spent his entire life in St. Ansgar. He was assistant projectionist at the theatre and since the first of July was employed at the H.L. McKinley and Son's Shop with his father.

Lawrence was one of the first to join Troop 52 of the local Boy Scout organization and was active in the troop for several years. He was never able to join the other boys at the summer camping trips because of an asthma condition, but nevertheless, enjoyed the other activities that the organization had to offer.

Lawrence was taken sick December 27, 1947 and was taken to the Cedar Valley hospital at Charles City, Sunday, January 4, and passed away Monday at 8 o'clock a.m.

He is survived by his parents and one sister, Mrs. Florence Nelson of Rockford, Illinois.

Interment was in the First Lutheran cemetery.

Out of town folks who attended the services were Mr. and Mrs. Glen Gilbertson of Mason City; Mr. and Mrs. Neal Neilson of Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Jordan, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Elverum, all of Lyle.
