Henry J. Knutson was born near Decorah, Iowa November 5th, 1858. He was baptized in the Lutheran church of his home parish near Decorah. At the age of six, his parents moved to the vicinity of St. Ansgar, Iowa. He was confirmed in the Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar by Rev. Olsen in 1874 and has been a member of this church ever since.

On September 20th, 1884 he was united in marriage with Miss Bertha Nelson. This union was blessed with four children; Sophia (Mrs. A.J. Robertson), Minneapolis, Minn. and Otto, Nellie and John Knutson, all of St. Ansgar, Iowa.

Mr. Knutson is survived by his wife Mrs. Bertha Knutson, by the four children, mentioned above, three grandchildren, one brother, Mr. Knut Aldahl? (Knutson) of Lake Mills, Iowa and one sister, Mrs. T.O. Aldahl of Lansing, Minn.

Mr. Knutson was taken sick with cancer of the liver last January and although everything was done to stop the disease, it progressed to a fatal termination on March 20th, 1918, at which time he had reached the age of fifty nine years, four months and fifteen days.

Mr. Knutson requested his pastor to send special greetings to the last session of the business meeting of the St. Ansgar congregation, and in greeting them to tell the congregation that during the days of his sickness he had come to experience a great joy in the forgiveness of his sins by faith in Jesus Christ, and that because of this blessed assurance he was not afraid to be called away, but was anxiously waiting the hour when his Saviour would come to claim him for His own. The business meeting of the congregation unanimously decided to have the pastor and the secretary return their greetings and express the joy of the congregation at the comforting message which it had received from the death bed of Mr. Knutson.

He died a few minutes after he had looked up and asked the Lord to receive his soul.

This fact is a source of great comfort to his family who are mourning the loss of a loving husband and a kind father.

Card of Thanks

We wish to hereby express our most sincere thanks to the many kind friends for their aid and sympathy extended to us in the loss of our beloved husband and father.
