KNOLL RITES HELD

St. Ansgar – Funeral services were held Monday for William Emil Knoll, 58, who died Thursday evening at his home after a long illness.

He leaves his wife and daughter, Mrs. Elmer Rieck of Grafton, also three sisters and three brothers.

William Emil Knoll was born in Illinois, the son of August and Augusta (Seefeldt) Knoll (according to the 1925 Iowa Census). He married Emma Louise Ulrika Krueger, the daughter of Henry Krueger and Ulrika (Falk) Krueger.
His wife's obit says she was buried in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

World War I Draft Registration: September 12, 1918--
William Knoll, 33, living in St. Ansgar, born August 22, 1885; farmer, nearest relative, wife Emma.

Note* the obit says he was 58, that would make his birth date 1886 or 1887, so the WWI draft registration could be off by one year or the obit could be off.

KNOLL, William 1886-1945

Funeral services were conducted for William Knoll at the Knoll home on Monday afternoon, February 26, 1945 at 2 o'clock. The Rev. O.A. Langehough was in charge of the obsequies, with burial in Immanuel's Lutheran cemetery.

William Emil Knoll, son of August and Augusta Knoll, was born October 22, 1886 at Freeport, Illinois. He lived around Freeport until in 1905 when he came to Mitchell County, Iowa, with Charles Lamm for whom he was working as a hired man.

On December 18, 1906 he was united in marriage to Emma Krueger. To this union one daughter was born.

They lived on a farm two and one-half miles southeast of St. Ansgar and in 1924 they quit farming and moved to St. Ansgar where he was engaged in trucking for a few years. Five years ago his health began to fail and he was not able to do any strenuous work. He became steadily worse the last six months and slipped peacefully away on Thursday evening, February 22, 1945 at 7:15 at his home in St. Ansgar.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife and daughter, Mrs. Elmer Rieck, also three sisters and three brothers.

Pallbearers were O.H. Koch. J.C. Petersen, Oscar Havig, Ernest Hansen, Arthur Dieterich and Herman Hartwig.

Those from away attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Knoll, Mrs. Otto Knoll and Mrs. Stanley Knoll all of Freeport, Ill.; Mrs. Mathilda Ohm and Mrs. Hatie Schmidt of Brownsdale and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Schmidt of Waltham, Minn.
